Shalom, Family and Friends
We pray this
message finds you in the best of health and spirits. We greet you in
everlasting love and peace. Shalom, Shalom!
This memorandum is
in response to several inquiries we have received regarding the
court case of an African-American family in Miami Florida,
identified as “Black Hebrew Israelites,” whose six-month old child
was found dead in their home two years ago. The case has centered on
questions regarding their feeding the child a raw food diet and
their other four children being diagnosed with malnutrition. While
our hearts go out to the family during this time of personal
anguish, we must clarify that we do not know them nor are they
associated with our community in any way. The case has received
national media attention.
There are numerous
African American communities that trace their lineage to the
Biblical Israelites. But they are not necessarily associated. Our
community is specifically the African Hebrew Israelites of Jerusalem
or the Kingdom of Yah, led by anointed spiritual leader Ben Ammi Ben
Israel. We are based in Dimona, Israel and are the only African
Israelite community to return to Israel from America. Again, we have
no affiliation with this family nor are we knowledgeable of their
particular dietary discipline.
For those who are
interested, our dietary standards for infants and children are as
follows:
-
Birth to five months: breast feeding only
-
Five to six months: Nursing and water each at least 3
to 4 times daily. The daily consumption whole food supplements
inclusive of fenugreek, kelp, and blackstrap molasses to provide
iron, protein, B-complex vitamins, trace minerals, calcium,
essential amino acids and more. Citrus juices, carrot juice, soy
milk, raw oatmeal, ground nuts and seeds, mashed or blended fruits,
and tahini (sesame seed paste). Exposure to sunshine.
-
Seven to one year: All of the above plus the addition
of fresh parsley, wheat germ, brewer’s yeast, and sesame seeds each
day. These foods add essential vitamins and minerals that may be
difficult to extract from their food and are necessary components
for the baby’s proper growth and development. In addition, add
cooked, blended vegetables, whole grain rice, and sprouts to build
cells.
-
One to three years: All of the above except nursing is
optional. If no longer nursing, replace with at least 3 eight-ounce
glasses of soy milk each day. Pureed soybeans or chickpeas can be
added to the baby’s diet for their high-protein content.
-
Three years and older: The daily consumption of whole
food supplements, plenty of water, and fresh, whole, organic fruits,
vegetables, nuts, grains, and seeds. Lots of exercise.
In the past 38
years, we have delivered over 1,000 babies by natural birthing
methods at our House of Life birthing center in Dimona. We have
developed our diet to a standard that has sustained infants into
adulthood with a superior level of health. Our diet is vegan,
meaning the absence of all meat (inclusive of no fish and no
chicken), dairy, and artificial additives. In addition, we observe
three no-salt days and one raw food day. Four times a year we
observe a “sugarless week,” where we consume no processed sugars.
The guidelines for
our diet are outlined in The Sacred Diet by Rofah (Dr.)
Karaliah E. Nasik Gavriel. This informative pamphlet is available
for sale by Communicators Press. We pray this information is
helpful.
